(article) Problems on The Path of Return - Mark Stavish

The effects of pathworking are to greater or lesser degree well documented. Once the basic concepts of what each sphere represents in terms of psychological elements on the Tree of Life is understood, then the links which they form are realized either through ritual, mythological metaphor, meditation, or a combination of the above.

...the following examples of kabbalistic pathworking are being given, as well as possible psychological benefits as well as pathologies which their working (particularly out of sequence) can evoke within the psyche of the operator. While no single path is ever worked exclusively, only realized as such by our outer self (i.e. ego), the effects are seen predominantly when particular paths are undertaken as ritual or esoteric operations. The paths are numbered in a working sequence for a reason, it is best to follow that sequence if disharmony and psychic disruption is to be held to a minimum.

(podcast) The Ayahuasca Story - Aubrey Marcus

In the heart of the amazon I was given a chance to partake in an ayahuasca ceremony conducted by one of the great masters left in the world, Maestro Orlando Chujandama. The world this opened was one of pure potentiality where anything was possible. Unequipped, and concerned that I may forget everything that i had seen I found my way back to the hut and recorded this video. It is raw, honest, and full of unsavory up the nostril camera angles, but perhaps it plays some small part in reinforcing the truth I was blessed to encounter. For the full story, please visit my blog at http://www.warriorpoet.us/

This is the podcast that I still get several emails and comments about every day. It details my journey to the Amazon where I took Ayahuasca, facing my own mortality before being helped to a dimension of unlimited possibilities. This was also where I announced that I would be going by my middle name Aubrey, the name of my grandfather.

(video clip) The Hero's Journey in Film

We have not even to risk the adventure alone, for the heroes of all time have gone before us. The labyrinth is thoroughly known. We have only to follow the thread of the hero path, and where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god. And where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves. Where we had thought to travel outward, we will come to the center of our own existence. And where we had thought to be alone, we will be with all the world....Joseph Campbell

A 10-minute exploration of the human journey of the hero as seen through the eyes of some of cinemas most celebrated heroes and legends. A film by Ciaran Michael Vejby, inspired by Joseph Campbell's "Hero With a Thousand Faces."

(writing by me) Notes on Chapter Eleven of Lon DuQuette's - Understanding Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot

"It takes no streatch of the imagination to see the H.G.A. [Holy Guardian Angel] as the prince who awakens with a kiss (Knowledge and Conversation) the sleeping beauty (the unenlightened soul), and takes her to the palace of his father the king (God), where the new couple will eventually become king and queen themselves (supreme enlightenment and re-absorption into god-head)...." - Lon DuQuette

(article) The Empress' Bouquet: An Analysis of the Floral Symbolism in ATU III - R. Joseph Capet

The following are notes from the article The Empress' Bouquet and it's examination into the relation between Mary and The Whore of Babylon.

Click here to read the full article.

[In the Egyptian system] we have a set of five figures, arranged in a series of complementary opposing pairs, bringing together in dialectical relationship: activity and passivity (Horus and Harpocrates), transcendence and immanence (Osiris and Horus/Harpocrates), and creation and destruction (Isis and Nephthys).

[In the system of India] it is found that the fivefold pattern once again holds true: activity and passivity (Vishnu and Shiva), transcendence and immanence (Brahma and Vishnu/Shiva), and creation and destruction (Shakti/Kali). What is more, it holds true in roughly the same pattern of relationships, creation and destruction again being dual aspects of a goddess who is the consort both of a deity representing transcendence and of a deity representing immanence (who are, in some sense, aspects of each other), with the immanent deity being twinned as an active and a passive god.

[In the European system], the difficulty is to locate, within the Christian context, a destructive aspect of Mary which would be cognate to Kali and Nephthys. Crowley's insight is to recognize that Mary appears not once, but twice in the Book of Revelation—once in her creative aspect as the Virgin Mary (represented in Revelation in the figure of the Woman of Revelation), and once in her destructive aspect as the Whore of Babylon.

Thus we see the Whore not simply as a goddess of destruction, but as a goddess who, by virtue of her participation in a pair, is a goddess of creative destruction, like Kali.

Once again, we have a functioning pentad: activity and passivity (the Son and the Holy Spirit), transcendence and immanence (the Father and the Son/Holy Spirit), and creation and destruction (the Virgin Mary/the Whore of Babylon).

It stands established, then, that the following system of correspondences is possible and that Crowley appears to be leaving us an abundance of clues, starting with the 'lotus of Isis', that encourage us to establish such a system: Osiris/Brahma/the Father, Horus/Vishnu/the Son, Harpocrates/Shiva/the Holy Spirit, Isis/Shakti/Mary, and Nephthys/Kali/the Whore of Babylon.

(article) A Selection of Q&A writings on How to Change the World - Michael Laitman

"The whole world is a reflection of what you have within."

"It turns out that I must correct only myself and my perception that the world supposedly exists outside of me. I begin to sense that indeed the world is all within me, and thus I correct reality. It turns out that the correction consists not in changing my relations with others, but in correcting my current perception that others exist outside of me and are not part of me."

(article) Psychedelics in Light of the Yoga Sutras - by Allowah

The Yoga Sutras mention of the use of herbs to awaken siddhis (powers, psychic abilities, etc.) is significant and should give us pause. What are the traditions around the use of aushadha (herbs, psychedelics, etc.)? Can the use of these substances be of any value on a path of spiritual development? These questions and more are explored in this article entitled Psychedelics in Light of the Yoga Sutras, by Allowah.

(article) The Path of Ayin - The Devil

"The Path of Ayin, THE DEVIL, connects Tiphareth, the center of the Sun consciousness, with Hod, sphere of Mercury and of the intellect. The twenty-sixth Path is formative and, in terms of the structure of the self, is an intellectual bridge between the Personality and the Individuality."

"In Qabalistic terms, the Devil is not viewed as an evil entity having its own separate existence. Rather, it represents a special mystery which must be penetrated before one can directly know the Higher Principle of the Self. The Devil, which is the adversary, is the Master of manifest form which we must face and conquer."

(article) Egyptian Numerology: The Pythagorean Triangle and It's Esoteric Meaning

All religions from the time of Babylon have adopted (in one form or another) a Trinity doctrine or a triad.

"The contemplation of this figure leads to an understanding of one of nature’s most common forms of growth, growth by accretion or accumulative increase, in which the old form is contained within the new."

"The vertical side named by Osiris represented the three vital principles: Salt, Sulfur, and Mercury. The long horizontal side named by Isis was the expression of the four basic elements: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. Finally, the hypotenuse named by Horus showed five divisions, representing the five stages of the development of Life: Minerals, Plants, Animals, Humans, and Enlightened Ones."

"The fivefold symmetry of the hypotenuse symbolizes the development of life in its evolution toward the Light."

"The five sections demonstrated the theoretical distance separating the different realms. One fifth is the evolution from mineral to plant, one fifth from plant to animal, one fifth from animal to human, but the true fulfillment of the full humanity needs the last fifth of the scale to be completed."

"Above the natural human being is the one who has made himself [or herself] the subject of the Great Work, who is adept, master and Magus. The Human being who completes the Great Work by becoming one with the Father, even as the line of Horus in this triangle, completes itself by arriving at the point whence the line of Osiris descends."

(online book) Knowledge of the Higher Worlds and It's Attainment - Rudolf Steiner

THERE slumber in every human being faculties by means of which he can acquire for himself a knowledge of higher worlds. Mystics, Gnostics, Theosophists—all speak of a world of soul and spirit which for them is just as real as the world we see with our physical eyes and touch with our physical hands. At every moment the listener may say to himself: that, of which they speak, I too can learn, if I develop within myself certain powers which today still slumber within me. There remains only one question—how to set to work to develop such faculties. For this purpose, they only can give advice who already possess such powers. As long as the human race has existed there has always been a method of training, in the course of which individuals possessing these higher faculties gave instruction to others who were in search of them.

(Writing by me) True Will and Altruism - Why?

First, some quotes and background information.
God sleeps in the rocks, stirs in the plants, dreams in the animals, and finally awakens in man. - Vedic Proverb
Quoting from article:http://unusmundus-melie.blogspot.com/2012/05/article-egyptian-numerology-pythagorean.html
"All religions from the time of Babylon have adopted (in one form or another) a Trinity doctrine or a triad."

The first part of the soul to reawaken is the animal soul. This part of the soul is predominantly blind animal instinct; hard core ego without intellect, capable only of fleeting moments of altruism towards other members of its pack etc.. Next the intellect awakens. As the intellect is more fully developed, eventually the result is an ability to conceive that the division between subject and object is an illusion created by the ego. In time, a third part of the soul will awaken (or the individual will awaken to it) leading to an ability to move beyond the intellect and directly experience the union of subject and object.

(Book) The Yoga of Jesus

In this remarkable book, Paramahansa Yogananda reveals the hidden yoga of the Gospels and confirms that Jesus, like the ancient sages and masters of the East, not only knew yoga but taught this universal science of God-realization to his closest disciples.

Compiled from the author’s highly praised two-volume work, The Second Coming of Christ: The Resurrection of the Christ Within You, this insightful and compact book transcends the centuries of dogma and misunderstanding that have obscured the original teachings of Jesus, showing that he taught a unifying path by which seekers of all faiths can enter the kingdom of God.

(article) Meditations on Liber AL by Jim Eshelman

Here follow excerpts from my diary — somewhat edited for clarity — over several months when my primary practice was daily meditation on the 220 individual verses of Liber Legis, or The Book of the Law.
The meditations were undertaken as a formal practice of Gñana Yoga. The method was that I would meditate deeply on the verse, then take pen to journal and begin writing my thoughts. After these were down (and only then), I would read Aleister Crowley’s commentaries on the same verse and incorporate into the record my reactions thereto. Mostly, this was done on a schedule of one verse per day, five days per week. (At this rate, it takes 44 weeks — about 11 months — to go through all 220 verses.)

(website) College and Temple of Thelema

"IF you have been seeking long — and especially if you are already familiar with the formal avenues of Initiation that have emerged in this century — then this present short letter may tell you most of what you need to know about the Temple of Thelema."

"Temple of Thelema is an initiating Order — a modern Mystery School, nonprofit, which focuses on regular group work and the systematic teaching and training of its members in the spiritual disciplines of magick and mysticism. It combines methods and traditions of both East and West: the Ageless Wisdom of Asia's yoga and of Europe's Hermetic qabalah. The old grade ceremonies of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn have been recrafted to conform to Thelemic symbols and principles, but remain true to the original patterns called the "Cipher Manuscript Formulae." Nomenclature has, in places, been changed so as not to cause confusion with certain other terminology. A tremendous amount of residual sexism some overt, some exceedingly subtle, has been weeded out of the system."

(online book) The Mystical and Magical System of the AA

"Initiation is a reality. Humanity has a potential to grow far beyond its own native state of consciousness and capability. This growth is a spiritual growth and its fruits inform and empower every facet of human, mortal expression, in addition to disclosing to each of us our own inherently immortal natures.

It is on this spiritual growth, more than any other thing, that the future welfare and progress of humanity depends.

We know the means of unlocking and awakening this growth, and of bringing its fruit to maturity. That is, we know how to unleash genius at will, and to produce its miracles on demand. It is not an overnight process, but it is a sure process for those who persevere. The means of doing this are not my discovery, or that of any person in recent history; rather, they have been known for thousands of years."

(article) An Open Epistle on Liber Resh Vel Helios - by J. Edward Cornelius

It is no secret that many people have difficulty understanding how the solar tides flow from within as well as outside our body. It is easy to state that our Sun is the source of the elemental or astral tides manifesting upon our Earth but it usually confuses students when we mention that the same tides bring forth our subconscious and archetypal dreams. We tend to believe that everything occurring in our mind is solely ours rather than connected to a vast waterway of inner tides which are attached to everyone. However, our mind is simply one of many islands floating in the vastness of these heavenly waters, bathed and illuminated by the forces descending through our Sun and the stars. Most people haven't the faintest idea of this solar connection but in Aleister Crowley's most holy volume, Liber AL vel Legis, it plainly states that "Every man and every woman is a star."(AL I:3)

Over the years I have received a great deal of correspondence requesting information on how to go about studying the Qabala. So for those new to esoteric studies, and Qabalistic magic in particular, I have created the following plan of study. It covers about two years to four years of work, and is designed to require the least amount of outlay in books and material by students. Much of the material can also be found online.

(article) Introduction to Alchemy in Jungian Psychology - Iona Miller

Jung spent the better part of the end of his life studying the subject of alchemy, which has been called the search for the godhead in matter.  In typical "Jungian" style, his interest in alchemy developed from a vivid dream about an ancient library full of arcane books.  Later, after much searching, Jung came to posses such a library. Alchemy reflected in symbolic form the same sorts of imagery Jung saw in his practice in neurosis, psychosis, dreams and imagination.  Jung insisted that the psyche cannot be understood in conceptual terms, but only through living images or symbols, which are able to contain paradox and ambiguity. Alchemy reflects the process of personal transformation in the metaphor of transmuting base metals into gold.

(writing by me) Thelema - Ethics and Shadow Work

Crowley didn't believe that ethics were unnecessary, he believed that they were relative. Instead of trying to tell every individual exactly what they should think, or do, he invited people to discover the answers for themselves as they come closer and closer to being in perfect harmony with their own true Will.

"The dread Baphomet henceforth, like all monstrous idols, enigmas of antique science and its dreams, is only an innocent and even pious hieroglyph.”

(article) The Mage's Guide to Adepthood - A guidebook for the solitary seeker - Aaron Leitch

If Knowledge is an ocean, than the search for it must be an abyss. Perhaps that's the key to the use of the Hebrew word "knowledge" to refer to the gate of the Abyss and the underworld. This is not exactly heartening news for the aspiring novice; especially when facing the overabundance of information presented to him (or her) in bookstores, libraries, and (worst of all) upon the internet. Far from the times of the Dark Ages and the world before the printing press, this is the Information Age and the time of the Information Superhighway. One does not tend to get far in any subject matter without a vehicle of some kind, and this especially refers to the art which we still insist on referring to as "occult" (ie- hidden).
