(Quote) Aleister Crowley - Magick Without Tears, Ch 17

"I certainly have no intention of 'holding you down' to 'a narrow path of work' or any path. All I can do is to help you to understand clearly the laws of your own nature, so that you may go ahead without extraneous influence. It does not follow that a plan that I have found successful in my own case will be any use to you. That is another cardinal mistake of most teachers. One must have become a Master of the Temple to annihilate one's ego. Most teachers, consciously or unconsciously, try to get others to follow in their steps. I might as well dress you up in my castoff clothing!"

(Video) Platonism and Alchemy by Pierre Grimes

Pierre Grimes discusses Carl Jung's work, Alchemy, the Republic, Carl Jung's book Psychology and Alchemy as well as the Platonic roots of Christianity and the role that early universities played in stripping Platonism down to dead intellectualism. Pierre reveals Platonic metaphysics to be an Intellectual Yoga, a spiritual tradition which is magnificent, structured, aggressive, descriptive and psychologically profound. Enjoy the Lost treasure of Plato.

(Article) The Two Truths Doctrine

An important concept:
The Buddhist doctrine of the two truths (Tibetan: bden-pa gnyis) differentiates between two levels of truth (Sanskrit: satya) in Buddhist discourse: relative or commonsensical truth, and absolute or ultimate truth.

(Video Clip) James Eshelman - A Pathway to Adepthood

From a lecture given by Jim Eshelman, entitled "A Pathway To Adepthood: The Method of A.'.A.'.

Core Premises:

* The goals of religious aspiration - actual spiritual experience - are attainable in this life, on earth, now.

* While the nature of the Supreme Experience (or TRUTH) is necessarily unique for each individual, it can be recognized universally by all.

* These wonderful results are producible by known methods that (in one or another variation) have been employed throughout history.

* The METHOD is that of empirical science. The AIM is that of impassioned religion.

(Quote) Gareth Knight - A Practical Guide to Qabalistic Symbolism, Volume II

"...it is the refusal to comedown to Earth, literally, that is the cause of the bulk of spiritual pathology - the root of sin, disease, ignorance. It is the real blasphemy, a rejection of the work of the Father in Heaven, a rejection of the Universe. (The Universe, let it he noted, is the Tarot Trump of this Path.) Until physical existence in the Universe is willingly accepted by the Spirit the Initiation of the Nadir cannot take place. Malkuth is the Gate, the door to evolution and the work of destiny. Evolution cannot take place until Involution is complete."

(Video) First Light: An Introduction to Meru Foundation Research by Stan Tenen

The Hebrew Alphabet, Genesis, and Kabbalah: What is The Meru Project? Using the objective tools of science, Stan Tenen has studied the mathematical structure underlying the sequence of letters in the Hebrew text of Genesis.
His research has shown that the geometric patterns fundamental to modern physics were available to us long before physics per se was considered an independent science. These patterns are intrinsic to the Hebrew letter-text of Genesis, and were known to traditional Kabbalists and sages.

(Quote) Gareth Knight - A Practical Guide to Qabalistic Symbolism, Pt 1

"Esoteric psychology teaches that when an entity such as man comes into incarnation the relatively immortal part of himself variously called the Higher Self, Evolutionary Self, the Soul etc. ~ projects a rod or thread-like process into the lower levels which forms the basis of personality, and this develops a life of its own and is kept alive by means of this life thread which has been described a 'silver cord' not only in the Bible but also in recorded experiences of etheric projection, the details of which are available in many books on psychical research. As the personality develops towards maturity the Higher Self begins to take over to a greater or usually lesser extent and this is by means of opening up the thread of consciousness between the two levels of being.
The aim of esoteric training is to make this dual consciousness a single reality. The consciousness of the Lower Self is raised by means of meditation, contemplation, and prayer and the Higher Self is brought down by attention, intention and, in the West, ritual methods."

(Tools and Toys) Tree of Life - Online Interactive Learning Game

This is a set of online learning tools that I created. It includes hundreds of flashcards! - nearly everything from the tables in 777, and allows you to switch into several different learning and game modes. In the process, you will learn the Tree of Life correspondences, Hebrew alphabet, numeric value of the Hebrew letters and much more.

Here is a brief demo on how Quizlet works (58sec):

(Quote) Aleister Crowley - Magick

"On the higher planes, the diversity of form, due to grossness, tends to disappear. Thus the Astral Vision of "Isis" is utterly unlike that of "Kali". The one is of Motherhood and wisdom, ineffably candid, clear, and loving; the other of Murder and madness, blood-intoxicated, lust-befogged, and cruel. The sole link is the Woman-symbol. But whoso makes Samadhi [...a non-dualistic state of consciousness in which, in deep meditation, the consciousness of the experiencing subject becomes one with the experienced object.] on Kali obtains the self-same Illumination as if it had been Isis; for in both cases he attains identity with the Quintessence of the Woman-Idea, untrammeled by the qualities with which the dwellers by the Nile and the Ganges respectively disguised it.
Thus, in low grades of initiation, dogmatic quarrels are inflamed by astral experience; as when Saint John distinguishes between the Whore BABALON and the Woman clothed with the Sun, between the Lamb that was slain and the Beast 666 whose deadly wound was healed; nor understands that Satan, the Old Serpent, in the Abyss, the Lake of Fire and Sulphur, is the Sun-Father, the vibration of Life, Lord of Infinite Space that flames with His Consuming Energy, and it is also that throned Light whose Spirit is suffused throughout the City of Jewels." - Aleister Crowley, Magick

(Quote) Israel Regardie - The Eye in The Triangle

"His devotion to the Great Work did not modify or eliminate his powerful sexual drives, any more than it changed his gourmet inclinations. If he cared for oysters and chateaubriand before his Samadhi, the same liking persisted afterwards." (Regardie 346)

"In one chapter of his book, Symonds comments - again with the intent to deride - that Crowley appeared to regard all sexual acts - be they hetero-, homo-, or auto-erotic - as religious acts, as magical acts, as equally divine." (Regardie 346)

"I put it to you to decide which is the more noble, and which the more corrupt. The view that sex is a dirty business, pleasurable certainly, but somehow not quite proper or clean; that it is to be indulged in secretly and passionately, but to be hurried through and gotten over quickly. Any reference thereafter to it is either in cold, highly intellectual terms as in a pseudo-scientific study, or pornographically with jokes and snickers. Compare this with the utter simplicity of the attitude that Crowley believed. Sexual ecstasy, thought Crowley, is akin to divine ecstasy. Both are there for us to take as we will.
Crowley accepted the one simple fact that sex - sex in any shape or form, the emergence of instinctual, that is, divine tendencies - is not to be thwarted or warped. So long as no one is hurt or injured, it is a private matter between any two people as to what form or practice of sexuality they wish to indulge in.
His interpretation of sex is then clear. You have the right, the divine right in his opinion, to express sexuality in your own particular way. "Take thy fill of love where, when, and with whom thou wilt - but always in the love of Me! [the divine]" (Regardie 347)

(Quote) Israel Regardia - The Eye in The Triangle

"Crowley once said that if a man wanted to begin the study of Magic because he wished to evoke a demon to kill his enemy, that would be all right too. For the student would soon discover the hierarchical structure of the world of magic. That is to say, the demon in question could not be controlled or ordered until the student had made contact with the entity immediately superior. And this entity would only be beseeched to function in terms of his superior - and so on. Very shortly, then, the student would be constrained to invoke, in a direct line, the God or spiritual force ruling over all such operations. In that case he would have to unite his consciousness with that of the God. By that time, so many transformations in consciousness would have taken place, that the original malefic intent would have disappeared and been replaced by other more worthy and higher aspirations."

(Quote) Aleister Crowley

"...all the symbols are interchangeable for each containeth in itself its own opposite. And this is the great Mystery of the Supernals that are beyond the Abyss. For below the Abyss contradiction is division. But above the Abyss contradiction is Unity. And there could be nothing true except by virtue of the contradiction that is contained in itself..."

(Quote) Gopi Krishna - The Purpose of Yoga

"The vast gulf between the mind of man and that of the higher animals is an open book to everyone. What man has achieved with his exceptional intellectual gifts and the capacity for linguistic expression is nothing short of magic when compared to the highest potential present in animals. It is an enigma to me why the learned should stop dead at the present frontier and stubbornly refuse to believe that the human brain, but a more elaborate form of the animal organ, can take a leap into an even more extended state of consciousness with still more amazing gifts and properties that appear incredible or magical to the normal mind. If this position has been admitted and confirmed in hundreds of authentic documents, coming from the remotest antiquity, is it not time that open-minded seekers after knowledge should refrain from resorting to sensational explanations for the exceptional and the paranormal and turn their attention to a fresh study of the still mysterious human encephalon?"

(Quote) Aleister Crowley

"We become that which obsesseth us, either through extreme Hate or Extreme Love. Knowest thou not how the one is a Symbol of the other? For this Reason, since Love is the Formula of Life, we are under Bond to assimilate (in the End) that which we fear or hate. So then we shall be wise to mould all Things within ourselves in Quietness and Modulation. But above all must we use all to our own End, adapting with Adroitness even our Weakness to the Work. Therefore, watch heedfully the Fault of another, that thou mayst correct it in thyself. For if it were not in thee, thou couldst not perceive it or understand it."

(Quote) Gopi Krishna - What is Cosmic Consciousness

"I am always conscious of a luminous glow, not only in my interior but pervading the whole field of my vision during the hours of my wakefulness. I literally live in a world of light. It is as if a light were burning in my interior, filling me with a luster so beautiful and so ravishing that my attention is again and again drawn towards it. In fact, it is the normal state of my perception now. Light, both within and without, and a distinct music in my ears, are the two prominent features of my transformed being. It is as if, in my interior, I live in a charming, radiant and melodious world."

(Quote) Gopi Krishna - Kundalini Catechism

"I would not be believed if I were to narrate all the experiences I have undergone and [I] am therefore reserved on the subject. Future investigators will add to the facts I am stating. From the very beginning, the whole head is filled with a lustrous glow and a stream of energy pours into it through the spinal canal. Every part of the brain is flooded with an indescribable light, fantastic visions and super-sensible experiences become a common feature of the heightened consciousness. The individual becomes aware of the immortal and indescribable nature of his own consciousness which, to use a simile, from the faint glimmer of a glow-worm is transformed into the glorious radiance of the sun."

(Quote) Shankara

"On the vast canvas of the Self the picture of the manifold worlds is painted by the Self itself. And that Supreme Self seeing but itself enjoys great delight."

(Quote) Intro: Itzhak Bentov - A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness

Itzhak Bentav, or "Ben", as his friends like to call him, "...had a tremendous curiosity about Creation and an unusual fearlessness for exploring it. And through it all, he kept a sense of balance. In meditation, he would explore the farthest reaches of the cosmos, then return to work on a lathe or design an instrument in his lab, keeping a sound and balanced perspective on the two realities."

(Quote) Itzhak Bentov - Stalking the Wild Pendulum

"...all matter in the universe, starting from the atom, is moving up in levels of consciousness under the forces of evolution until it finally reaches the absolute. It also means that matter is combining and becoming more and more complex, forming more intricate nervous systems as time goes by, and these nervous systems are capable of interacting with nature in more complex patterns. In other words, the quality of their consciousness is increasing."

(Quote) Jagadguru Shankaracharya Bharati Krishna Tirtha

"If at any time we feel that there is a conflict [between religion and science], we may well be sure that either we have misread our scriptures or misunderstood the Nature around us or blundered in both. We cannot possibly have understood both aright and yet found irreconcilable antagonism between the two."

(Quote) Itzhak Bentov - A Cosmic Book

"You assumed that once you reached the Absolute, the thinking processes would stop automatically. But here you go, romping around in the Void and apparently thinking. This present thinking process is not the kind of linear, deductive thinking that people normally do, but rather an intuitive knowing, where very complex ideas are imprinted on the mind instantaneously."

(Quote) Gopi Krishna - The Evolutionary Energy in Man

"Considering the colossal nature of the physical and mental metamorphosis that has to be effected as a prelude to spiritual un-foldment, I do not wonder at the accompanying trials and tribulations, since the mystic state represents the last and most arduous lap of the journey which began with man's ascent from dust; it terminates with his tasting, after suffering and travail, the incomparable bliss of unembodied existence, not after death, but within his span of life on earth. The path in front of him now is so difficult and of such bewildering alignment that it will need all his will-power and all the resources of his intellect to negotiate it safely step by step until the goal comes clearly in sight."

(Quote) Eliphas Levi

"All our Religion is true, and I would even dare to say that every Religion is true, apart from omissions, transpositions, wrong meanings, rash conjectures, additions, imaginings and misunderstandings."

(online book) A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness - Itzach Bentov

"All aboard for the excursion of a lifetime as Itzhak Bentov, the celebrated engineer, inventor, and mystic, takes you on a tour of the universe, pure consciousness, and all that lies beyond. Using comical sketches, simple metaphors, and his famous wit and humor, Bentov explains the nature of reality, points out the sights in Nirvana and the Void, and eventually takes you to a meeting with your higher self. Along the way, Bentov illuminates the Kabbalistic principles of number and sound, the meaning of cosmic shapes and symbols, the consciousness of devas, and the nature of the absolute. Ultimately, he shows that the universe and thought are inseparable, and that the thoughts of all human beings affect each other and in turn the whole universe--an idea with obvious and far-reaching implications. Anyone interested in the inner reaches of the mind, the greater structure of the cosmos, and the spiritual evolution of humanity will find A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness an informed and delightful traveling companion."

There are various ways to look at things and to structure spiritual practices.

From: http://www.workofthechariot.com/TextFiles/Teachings-Faces.html - "In all mystical traditions, the "Mysterious Unknown at the Roots of All Things" is spoken of as having both inactive (impersonal) and active (personal aspects). These two aspects are called "Faces" in Qabalah."

The impersonal, inactive aspect is called "Vast  Face" and the personal, active aspect is called "Small Face."

(online book) Kundalini, The Evolutionary Energy in Man - Gopi Krishna

Gopi Krishna describes his own personal experience of Kundalini awakening that unfolded over more than 25 years of his life. It's a mind bending, often frightening, yet ultimately revelatory and inspiring, personal odyssey not to be missed.

Click here to read the book online for free.

"It remains for me, as an historian of world religions, to introduce this book by putting it into the framework of Indian religious history. For Gopi Krishna is of unusual interest, first as an example of a most thorough-going mixture of East and West, and secondly as a self-taught prophet of an original kind. Gopi Krishna's approach appears as a great surprise because in his book, except for the last chapter, there is no mention of spirituality, religion and metaphysics. Gopi Krishna's endeavours appear as a historical laboratory in which he, the author, develops genuinely in himself what others have developed before him. But he re-mains independent of his fore-runners, who frequently have wound up in sterile intellectual formulae. By contrast, this self-taught, Guru-less author remains genuine in all his discoveries."

Kurt Godel's Incompleteness Theorem shakes our understandings of mathematics, logic and reason to their very core. (video clip) Kurt Godel - Intuition - Beyond the Limitations of Logic and Reason

Godel proved unquestionably that there were truths which could never be arrived at via logical processes, or reason and yet, theoretically, they could be known, but how? According to Godel, the answer was that a machine, for example, would always be limited to arriving at the answer by progressing through a successive series of steps, while, alternatively, a conscious mind could tap into an infinite and transcendental aspect of itself and thereby arrive directly at the truth by way of a direct knowing, or intuition.

"It is interesting to note that although Alan Turing believed humans were merely machines, much like the computers he had envisioned, failed to realize that his idea for computers came to him suddenly, 'in a vision', thus confirming Godel's contention that humans had access to the 'divine spark of intuition'. A divine spark which enables humans to transcend the limits he, and Turing, had found in his incompleteness theorem for computers, mathematics, and even for all material reality generally..."

"Gifted people being able to instantaneously know answers to complex problems, as Turing himself did with his vision of a computer, is something that argues forcefully against the notion that our minds are merely the 'emergent' products of molecules in motion in our brain..."

(article) Problems on The Path of Return - Mark Stavish

The effects of pathworking are to greater or lesser degree well documented. Once the basic concepts of what each sphere represents in terms of psychological elements on the Tree of Life is understood, then the links which they form are realized either through ritual, mythological metaphor, meditation, or a combination of the above.

...the following examples of kabbalistic pathworking are being given, as well as possible psychological benefits as well as pathologies which their working (particularly out of sequence) can evoke within the psyche of the operator. While no single path is ever worked exclusively, only realized as such by our outer self (i.e. ego), the effects are seen predominantly when particular paths are undertaken as ritual or esoteric operations. The paths are numbered in a working sequence for a reason, it is best to follow that sequence if disharmony and psychic disruption is to be held to a minimum.

(podcast) The Ayahuasca Story - Aubrey Marcus

In the heart of the amazon I was given a chance to partake in an ayahuasca ceremony conducted by one of the great masters left in the world, Maestro Orlando Chujandama. The world this opened was one of pure potentiality where anything was possible. Unequipped, and concerned that I may forget everything that i had seen I found my way back to the hut and recorded this video. It is raw, honest, and full of unsavory up the nostril camera angles, but perhaps it plays some small part in reinforcing the truth I was blessed to encounter. For the full story, please visit my blog at http://www.warriorpoet.us/

This is the podcast that I still get several emails and comments about every day. It details my journey to the Amazon where I took Ayahuasca, facing my own mortality before being helped to a dimension of unlimited possibilities. This was also where I announced that I would be going by my middle name Aubrey, the name of my grandfather.

We have not even to risk the adventure alone, for the heroes of all time have gone before us. The labyrinth is thoroughly known. We have only to follow the thread of the hero path, and where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god. And where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves. Where we had thought to travel outward, we will come to the center of our own existence. And where we had thought to be alone, we will be with all the world....Joseph Campbell

"It takes no streatch of the imagination to see the H.G.A. [Holy Guardian Angel] as the prince who awakens with a kiss (Knowledge and Conversation) the sleeping beauty (the unenlightened soul), and takes her to the palace of his father the king (God), where the new couple will eventually become king and queen themselves (supreme enlightenment and re-absorption into god-head)...." - Lon DuQuette

(article) The Empress' Bouquet: An Analysis of the Floral Symbolism in ATU III - R. Joseph Capet

The following are notes from the article The Empress' Bouquet and it's examination into the relation between Mary and The Whore of Babylon.

Click here to read the full article.

[In the Egyptian system] we have a set of five figures, arranged in a series of complementary opposing pairs, bringing together in dialectical relationship: activity and passivity (Horus and Harpocrates), transcendence and immanence (Osiris and Horus/Harpocrates), and creation and destruction (Isis and Nephthys).

[In the system of India] it is found that the fivefold pattern once again holds true: activity and passivity (Vishnu and Shiva), transcendence and immanence (Brahma and Vishnu/Shiva), and creation and destruction (Shakti/Kali). What is more, it holds true in roughly the same pattern of relationships, creation and destruction again being dual aspects of a goddess who is the consort both of a deity representing transcendence and of a deity representing immanence (who are, in some sense, aspects of each other), with the immanent deity being twinned as an active and a passive god.

[In the European system], the difficulty is to locate, within the Christian context, a destructive aspect of Mary which would be cognate to Kali and Nephthys. Crowley's insight is to recognize that Mary appears not once, but twice in the Book of Revelation—once in her creative aspect as the Virgin Mary (represented in Revelation in the figure of the Woman of Revelation), and once in her destructive aspect as the Whore of Babylon.

Thus we see the Whore not simply as a goddess of destruction, but as a goddess who, by virtue of her participation in a pair, is a goddess of creative destruction, like Kali.

Once again, we have a functioning pentad: activity and passivity (the Son and the Holy Spirit), transcendence and immanence (the Father and the Son/Holy Spirit), and creation and destruction (the Virgin Mary/the Whore of Babylon).

It stands established, then, that the following system of correspondences is possible and that Crowley appears to be leaving us an abundance of clues, starting with the 'lotus of Isis', that encourage us to establish such a system: Osiris/Brahma/the Father, Horus/Vishnu/the Son, Harpocrates/Shiva/the Holy Spirit, Isis/Shakti/Mary, and Nephthys/Kali/the Whore of Babylon.

(article) A Selection of Q&A writings on How to Change the World - Michael Laitman

"The whole world is a reflection of what you have within."

"It turns out that I must correct only myself and my perception that the world supposedly exists outside of me. I begin to sense that indeed the world is all within me, and thus I correct reality. It turns out that the correction consists not in changing my relations with others, but in correcting my current perception that others exist outside of me and are not part of me."

(video) Path of Fire and Light - Swami Jnaneshvara

Clear, easy to understand instructions on how to practice yoga meditation.

This series of videos is a commentary by Swami Jnaneshvara on the eight steps of Yoga Meditation as described by Swami Rama in his book Path of Fire and Light, Volume 2 (ISBN 0893891126). It was recorded at Swami Rama Center on the campus of the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences near Rishikesh (the location of Sadhana Mandir, Swami Rama's ashram) and Dehradun, India. These videos were made primarily for use by visitors to Swami Rama's ashram, which is beside the Ganges at the foothills of the Himalayas in Rishikesh, India, though I hope that all practitioners of yoga meditation enjoy them.

(article) Psychedelics in Light of the Yoga Sutras - by Allowah

The Yoga Sutras mention of the use of herbs to awaken siddhis (powers, psychic abilities, etc.) is significant and should give us pause. What are the traditions around the use of aushadha (herbs, psychedelics, etc.)? Can the use of these substances be of any value on a path of spiritual development? These questions and more are explored in this article entitled Psychedelics in Light of the Yoga Sutras, by Allowah.

(article) The Path of Ayin - The Devil

"The Path of Ayin, THE DEVIL, connects Tiphareth, the center of the Sun consciousness, with Hod, sphere of Mercury and of the intellect. The twenty-sixth Path is formative and, in terms of the structure of the self, is an intellectual bridge between the Personality and the Individuality."

"In Qabalistic terms, the Devil is not viewed as an evil entity having its own separate existence. Rather, it represents a special mystery which must be penetrated before one can directly know the Higher Principle of the Self. The Devil, which is the adversary, is the Master of manifest form which we must face and conquer."

(article) Egyptian Numerology: The Pythagorean Triangle and It's Esoteric Meaning

All religions from the time of Babylon have adopted (in one form or another) a Trinity doctrine or a triad.

"The contemplation of this figure leads to an understanding of one of nature’s most common forms of growth, growth by accretion or accumulative increase, in which the old form is contained within the new."

"The vertical side named by Osiris represented the three vital principles: Salt, Sulfur, and Mercury. The long horizontal side named by Isis was the expression of the four basic elements: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. Finally, the hypotenuse named by Horus showed five divisions, representing the five stages of the development of Life: Minerals, Plants, Animals, Humans, and Enlightened Ones."

"The fivefold symmetry of the hypotenuse symbolizes the development of life in its evolution toward the Light."

"The five sections demonstrated the theoretical distance separating the different realms. One fifth is the evolution from mineral to plant, one fifth from plant to animal, one fifth from animal to human, but the true fulfillment of the full humanity needs the last fifth of the scale to be completed."

"Above the natural human being is the one who has made himself [or herself] the subject of the Great Work, who is adept, master and Magus. The Human being who completes the Great Work by becoming one with the Father, even as the line of Horus in this triangle, completes itself by arriving at the point whence the line of Osiris descends."

(online book) Knowledge of the Higher Worlds and It's Attainment - Rudolf Steiner

THERE slumber in every human being faculties by means of which he can acquire for himself a knowledge of higher worlds. Mystics, Gnostics, Theosophists—all speak of a world of soul and spirit which for them is just as real as the world we see with our physical eyes and touch with our physical hands. At every moment the listener may say to himself: that, of which they speak, I too can learn, if I develop within myself certain powers which today still slumber within me. There remains only one question—how to set to work to develop such faculties. For this purpose, they only can give advice who already possess such powers. As long as the human race has existed there has always been a method of training, in the course of which individuals possessing these higher faculties gave instruction to others who were in search of them.
